Every healing-water destination has a story.
Sometimes the story begins with a natural spring discovered centuries ago. Sometimes it begins with a traveler who finds a quiet place, takes a soak, and realizes that the experience is about much more than the water.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the most memorable wellness destinations are often connected to their surroundings. The mountains, the desert, the ocean, the people, and the history all become part of the experience.
In Desert Hot Springs, California, the mineral waters rise from deep beneath the desert. In other parts of the world, thermal waters emerge among volcanic landscapes, lush forests, or peaceful countryside. Each destination has its own personality.
I’ve always been fascinated by the stories behind these places. Who discovered the water? Who came before us? Why did people begin traveling there? And what keeps bringing visitors back generation after generation?
Perhaps that’s what makes wellness travel so special.
You’re not simply visiting a hotel or a spa. You’re stepping into a story that began long before you arrived.
For me, the best journeys are the ones that leave something behind — a memory, a friendship, a new perspective, or simply a feeling of having discovered somewhere truly special.
And there are still so many stories waiting to be told.
The next journey may lead to another mineral spring, another wellness retreat, or another corner of the world where nature has created something extraordinary.
Until then, I’ll keep following the water.
